Cichoriin is a coumarin derivative that can be found in the plant species Pueraria lobata. Cichoriin has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. The acetate extract of P. lobata also contains cichoriin, but it is not as potent as pure cichoriin. Cichoriin was first isolated and identified from the bark of P. lobata in Japan and China. It belongs to the group of sesquiterpene lactones, which are natural compounds that have bioactive phenolic properties. Cichoriin has also been shown to have anticancer activity in tissue culture experiments with human tissue samples.
