Description:
1-(4-Bromo-1H-pyrrol-2-yl)-2,2,2-trichloroethanone is a reactant in the preparation of tetrachloride. It can be prepared by reacting 4-bromopyrrole with carbon tetrachloride. The yield of this reaction can be increased by using a catalytic amount of potassium hydroxide. The target compound is a colorless liquid with a boiling point of 104 °C. This compound has been used as an intermediate in the production of dyes, pesticides, and pharmaceuticals.
