Product Information
Lopinavir is an antiviral drug used for the treatment of HIV infection. Lopinavir-d8 is a prodrug that is converted to lopinavir in the body. The conversion rate of lopinavir-d8 to lopinavir in plasma was found to be dependent on a number of factors, such as the type of sample (plasma vs. serum), age, and gender. Lopinavir has been shown to inhibit viral replication by binding to reverse transcriptase and blocking its activity. It also inhibits protease, which prevents the cleavage of polyproteins into functional proteins necessary for viral replication. Lopinavir-d8 has been shown to be effective in treating HIV infection in infants and children.
