Dihydropunctatin is a flavonoid that has been shown to have chemosystematics properties. It has the potential to inhibit cancer cell proliferation and induce apoptosis in human cancer cells. Dihydropunctatin has also been shown to exhibit pharmacokinetic properties, including a rapid absorption and elimination phase. Pharmacologic studies on dihydropunctatin have been limited, but it is thought that the presence of isoflavones may provide an explanation for its anticancer activity.
