Daphnetin-8-methyl ether is a coumarin derivative that has been shown to have antihepatitis activity in cell culture. The compound inhibits the secretion of interleukin-1β and TNF-α in response to lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation, as well as the production of nitric oxide. Daphnetin-8-methyl ether also has an inhibitory effect on the growth of phytophthora megasperma and daphnetin-8-methyl ether can be used as a medicine for treating hepatitis. Daphnetin-8-methyl ether is active at an optimum pH range of 5.0-6.5, which is within the human body's physiological pH range.
