Description:
7,8-Dihydroxyflavanone is a flavonoid derivative that has been shown to inhibit the enzyme aromatase. This inhibition reduces production of estrogen and thus inhibits the growth of certain types of cancer cells. 7,8-Dihydroxyflavanone has also been found to have anticancer activity in human breast cancer cells and to reduce autophagy. It belongs to the stilbene derivatives, which are plant families that produce many important compounds.
