Didrovaltrate is a natural compound found in rhizogenes, which are fungi that can promote plant growth. It has been shown to induce autophagy, a process by which cells break down and recycle their own components. Didrovaltrate is also able to stimulate the production of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in liver cells and protect against hepatic steatosis. Didrovaltrate has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects, as it inhibits pro-inflammatory cytokine production in vitro and in vivo. Didrovaltrate has also been shown to be an autophagy inducer, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the activity of surface methodology enzymes such as metalloproteinases or proteases, or its ability to inhibit the activity of histidinol dehydrogenase.
