Product Information
8-Hydroxy-4-cadinen-3-one (8HC) is a naturally occurring plant compound that is hypothesized to be involved in the biosynthesis of other natural products. 8HC has been found to have allelopathic potential, meaning it can inhibit the growth of neighboring plants. It also has been shown to inhibit the uptake and metabolism of metal ions such as cadmium, copper, and zinc by transporters in roots and shoots. These activities may be due to its ability to induce oxidative stress in plants. 8HC has been identified as an important metabolite of Eupatorium adenophorum, Alnus alleghaniensis, and Adenophorus sp. This molecule also appears to play a role in the biosynthesis of bioactive compounds such as eupalorin A and eupalorin B.
