Product Information
Paniculidine B is a natural product that is synthesized from sinalexin by methylation and formylation of the aldehyde group. This compound exhibits in vitro antibacterial activity against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It also has phytoalexin, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer activities. Paniculidin B has been found to inhibit the enzyme nitroso reductase, which converts nitroso compounds into hydroxyindoles, a class of compounds that are used as herbicides. Hydroxyindoles are also produced during the metabolism of phytoalexins and alkoxycarbonyls.
