Product Information
Paniculata is a genus of plants in the family Dioscoreaceae. Paniculata is a small genus with only two species, which are paniculata and murralongin. The plants have been used for their medicinal properties since ancient times. The glycoside, called paniculidine C, has been found to be responsible for the medicinal properties of the plant. It has been shown that this chemical can inhibit the growth of several organisms by inhibiting their ability to synthesize proteins and DNA. Coumarins may contribute to the plant's medicinal properties as well. This is due to their ability to inhibit protein synthesis in cells, as well as other enzymes such as DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. Paniculata also contains aldehyde, which may contribute to its antimicrobial activities because it inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, thereby preventing transcription and replication.
