Dabsyl-L-tryptophan is a tryptophan analog that has shown anti-cancer properties. This compound has been shown to bind to cancer cells and inhibit the growth of cancer cells by interfering with their amino acid sequence. Dabsyl-L-tryptophan binds to metal ions, such as copper and zinc, which are important for the growth of cancer cells. It also inhibits the production of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) in mice. TTP is a disease that occurs when there is an increased amount of platelets in the blood and they become clumped together, blocking small blood vessels. Dabsyl-L-tryptophan interacts with ester hydrochloride, which inhibits its activity.
