Product Information

Name:
Erythrinin A
Synonyms:
  • Indicanine C
  • 2H,6H-Benzo[1,2-b:5,4-b′]dipyran-6-one, 7-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2,2-dimethyl-
Description:

Erythrinin A is a terpene compound that was originally isolated from the plant Oroxylum indicum. It has been shown to have antimicrobial effects against human pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes and Enterococcus faecalis. Erythrinin A inhibits microbial metabolism by binding to the enzyme bacterial cytochrome P450 and blocking synthesis of microbial sterols. The molecular docking analysis of erythrinin A with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) revealed that the two compounds share similar binding sites on the P450 enzyme. Erythrinin A also inhibits THC-induced apoptosis in human breast cancer cells, suggesting that it may be an effective treatment for breast cancer.
