Eupatorin is a phenolic compound that inhibits the opening of calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle cells. It is used as an anti-anginal agent and vasodilator, and has been shown to be useful in the treatment of hypertension. Eupatorin also blocks the activity of trimeric G-proteins, which are involved in signal transduction. This drug is not toxic, with no known side effects or interactions with other drugs. The pharmacological tests on this substance have shown that it does not bind to receptors for dopamine, serotonin, or acetylcholine, making it a non-dopaminergic receptor blocker.
