Tert-butyl 4-[(3-phenyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl)methyl]piperidine-1-carboxylate is a potent and selective activator of the group III metabotropic glutamate receptor (mGluR3) in vitro. It is also an inhibitor of ligand binding to the mGluR1, mGluR2, and mGluR5 receptors. This compound has been shown to be effective as a research tool in cell biology and pharmacology studies. Tert-butyl 4-[(3-phenyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl)methyl]piperidine-1-carboxylate binds to proteins with high affinity and specificity and can be used as an antibody or peptide ligand for receptor binding studies.
