Isoglabrone is a flavonoid that is extracted from licorice. It has been shown to have hepatoprotective effects, which may be due to its acetate extract and glycyrrhizin content. Isoglabrone also inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells by inhibiting NF-κB activation and subsequent TNF-α expression. Isoglabrone has also been shown to have chemopreventive effects against liver cancer in rats. Isoglabrone is an inhibitor of acetylcholinesterase, leading to increased levels of acetylcholine, which is associated with memory retention and learning ability in animals.
