Isosibiricin is a coumarin derivative that has been isolated from the roots of "Vitex negundo" and "Vitex rotundifolia". The structure of isosibiricin was elucidated by spectroscopic analysis. Isosibiricin has been shown to inhibit dopamine receptor protein activation in microglia cells, which may be caused by its ability to antagonize the binding of quinpirole to the dopamine receptor. It also inhibits microglial activation and TNF-α production, which is induced by LPS stimulation. Isosibiricin also inhibits the release of sultopride from rat pancreatic acini, which may be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis in this tissue.
