Description:

Juglanin is a toxic compound found in the leaves of the plant Juglans mandshurica. It has been shown to have a variety of physiological effects, including growth factor-β1 stimulation, mitochondrial membrane potential modulation, and skin tumor formation. Juglanin is also able to inhibit protein synthesis by inhibiting mitochondrial DNA polymerase γ. This inhibition leads to cell death by activating the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway. Juglanin has been shown to inhibit the function of Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) in 3T3-L1 preadipocytes, which may be due to its ability to suppress inflammation through nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
