This compound has also been identified as an inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4), a protein that plays a role in glucose metabolism and is targeted by drugs such as vildagliptin for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. N-Oleoyl glutamine has been detected in urine samples from healthy individuals, suggesting that it may be endogenously produced in humans.
