Product Information

Name:
trans-Khellactone
Description:

Trans-Khellactone is a coumarin derivative that is an acridone. It inhibits the growth of skin tumor cells by inhibition of nucleophilic attack on DNA. Trans-Khellactone has been shown to inhibit the formation of skin tumors in mice, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the conversion of nitrosonium ion to reactive oxygen species (ROS). This compound has also been shown to have antiplatelet effects, which may be due to its ability to induce platelet aggregation and prolong bleeding time. Trans-Khellactone has been synthesized by a kinetic resolution method from trans-khellactone and imperatorin. The synthesis was accomplished using epoxides as starting materials and followed by a uv absorption reaction with alcohol groups as the final step.
