Lupinalbin B is a coumaronochromone that is found in the tissues of lupine plants. It has been shown to be present in the cytoplasm, endoplasmic reticulum and acidic vesicles of various cells. Lupinalbin B is an inhibitor of peroxidases and a potent inhibitor of elastase, which are enzymes that break down proteins in the body. Lupinalbin B also inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species, which can lead to cell death. This compound also has anti-inflammatory properties due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. Lupinalbin B also inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX) activity and blocks the conversion of arachidonic acid into prostaglandins by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX).
