Description

Prenyletin methyl ether is a cytotoxic compound that has been isolated from the bark of Cedrela odorata, a tree native to tropical America. The compound shows anti-cancer properties against prostate cancer cells, as it binds to and inhibits microtubules in these cells. Prenyletin methyl ether is lipophilic and can cross the cell membrane easily. It has been shown to inhibit mitotic activity and kinase signaling pathways in cancer cells. Prenyletin methyl ether also inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and protects against oxidative damage. This compound may be useful for treating various types of cancer, including prostate cancer.
