Product Information

Name:
Steppogenin
Synonyms:
  • Norartocarpanone(2S)-5,7,2',4'-Tetrahydroxyflavanone(2S)-2-(2,4-Dihydroxyphenyl)-2,3-dihydro-5,7-dihydroxy-4H-1-benzopyran-4-one
Description:

Steppogenin is a natural compound that inhibits the activity of tyrosinase and therefore has anti-inflammatory properties. It also inhibits oxidative injury by inhibiting the activity of reactive oxygen species, which are generated during inflammation. Steppogenin has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity in vitro. This property may be due to its ability to inhibit transcriptional regulation and melanogenesis in human skin cells. It also shows inhibitory properties against caffeic acids, which are enzymes involved in the synthesis of polyphenols, flavonoids, and lignans.
