Product Information
Suberosin epoxide is a prenylated coumarin derivative that has been shown to have significant in vitro and in vivo activity against protozoan parasites. It has been shown to inhibit leishmania species by interfering with the synthesis of protein phosphatase 1, which is essential for parasite survival. Suberosin epoxide has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in vivo. The compound is not active against Leishmania strains that do not express protein phosphatase 1. Further research into this compound could lead to the development of an effective drug for the treatment of leishmaniasis.
