Steviolbioside is a purified extract of high-purity steviol glycosides, which is derived from the leaves of the Stevia plant. The extract is composed of stevioside and steviolbioside, and has shown to have a hypoglycemic effect in toxicological studies. Steviolbioside has been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect on mice with diabetes and can be used as a sugar substitute. It also has been shown to inhibit the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and can be used as an analytical method for detecting DNA sequences. Steviolbioside has been found to be nontoxic at concentrations up to 3000 mg/kg body weight when administered orally.
