Product Information
Skf 104976 is a synthetic retinoid that binds to the nuclear receptor, thereby activating gene transcription. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cells in vitro and in vivo. Skf 104976 also inhibits the growth of cancer cells by inducing apoptosis and by inhibiting cell cycle progression. The synthetic pathway for skf 104976 is similar to that for all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA), but it differs from ATRA in that it does not have a hydroxyl group on carbon C-3 and C-4. In addition, Skf 104976 has synergistic effects when used with dihydrolanosterol, which inhibits liver cells from accumulating lipids. This drug may be useful as an anti-diabetic agent due to its ability to increase insulin sensitivity and stimulate glucose uptake in 3T3-L1 preadipocytes.
