Ternatin B is a ternatein ternatin derivative. It is an alkaline dye that has been shown to be acylated with chloroacetic acid and reduced with sodium borohydride. Ternatin B is found in the flowers of Clitoria ternatea, which are known for their red-purple color. The anthocyanins of the flower can be extracted by boiling the plant material in water. Ternatin B has been shown to have deacylation and delphinidin moieties, which give it its distinctive color.
