3,6,3'-Trimethoxyflavone is a natural product isolated from the leaves of the plant Ocimum sanctum L. It is a flavonoid with potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. 3,6,3'-Trimethoxyflavone has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the production of prostaglandin E2 and nitric oxide in vitro. It also inhibits the activation of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) and blocks the activation of protein kinase C (PKC). This compound has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in animal models by inhibiting COX-2 expression and blocking NF-κB activation.
