2-Ethyl-3-[4-[(E)-3-(4-isopropylpiperazin-1-yl)propenyl]benzyl]-5,7-dimethyl-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine (ePIPERAZINE) is a lead compound that inhibits angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R). This receptor is coupled to G proteins and has been associated with the development of cardiovascular diseases. ePIPERAZINE shows potential as a therapeutic agent for myocardial infarction, myocardial angiogenesis, and atherosclerosis. It also has pharmacologic effects on vascular endothelial cells and platelets in mice.
