PHA-680632 is a potent and selective small molecule antagonist of the α4β2 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. It is a high-purity, water-soluble peptide that has been shown to be a potent, selective and competitive inhibitor of the α4β2 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. PHA-680632 has been shown to inhibit the binding of nicotine to its receptors on cells, which may be due to its ability to block the channels through which ions flow into cells. This inhibition prevents the activation of voltage-gated calcium channels, leading to an overall decrease in the release of neurotransmitters such as dopamine and noradrenaline.
