Chlorouvedalin is a bioactive chlorinated coumarin that is found in plants. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects. Chlorouvedalin is used as a reference material for quality control of HPLC standards and has also been shown to have anticancer and antidiabetic properties. This compound is metabolized by the liver into its primary metabolite, 3,4-dihydrochlorouvedalin, which can be detected in urine samples using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Chlorouvedalin has not been isolated from any natural sources but can be synthesized in the laboratory.
