Kobophenol A is a natural phenolic compound, which has been isolated from the stem bark of the plant, Aspidosperma quebracho-blanco. Kobophenol A is a secondary metabolite, which is produced in plants as a defence mechanism against pathogens and insects. The compound has been shown to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and therefore may be used to help prevent cancerous cells from developing. Kobophenol A can be used as an analytical standard for HPLC analysis due to its purity and high fluorescence intensity.
