Product Information
(E)-Coniferin is an antibiotic with a natural origin that inhibits the growth of bacteria, fungi, and viruses. It has been shown to be effective against many bacterial strains, including Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. (E)-Coniferin also inhibits the replication of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1). This agent is also active against protozoan parasites such as Entamoeba histolytica.
(E)-Coniferin has been shown to inhibit the synthesis of DNA in microorganisms. It binds to bacterial dna gyrase and prevents it from unwinding the DNA chain during replication. The drug can also inhibit viral production by inhibiting the enzyme RNA polymerase II which synthesizes viral mRNA.
