Product Information
Mefuparib is a research tool that is used to study protein interactions. It is an inhibitor of the receptor tyrosine kinase, which is a type of enzyme that transmits signals from outside the cell (e.g., hormones) to inside the cell, where the signal causes a change in function (e.g., growth). Mefuparib binds to and blocks the active site of these enzymes, preventing their activity. Mefuparib has been shown to inhibit ion channels and voltage-sensitive calcium channels as well as cell proliferation and migration. This drug also inhibits protein synthesis by inhibiting phosphorylation of ribosomal proteins S6K and 4EBP1, which are associated with tumorigenesis and metastasis.
