SB-242084 is a potent inhibitor of the receptor tyrosine kinase epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). It blocks the binding of EGF to EGFR, which prevents activation of the receptor. SB-242084 is also a ligand for the peptide hormone vasopressin V2 receptor, which is involved in regulation of water and electrolyte balance. SB-242084 is an antibody that binds to the protein CD4 and blocks HIV from entering cells. This drug has been shown to inhibit cell growth, especially cancer cells.
