Lipoamido-PEG2-OH is a peptide that is a ligand for ion channels. It has been shown to function as an activator of potassium channels and as an inhibitor of sodium channels. The binding site for this peptide on the sodium channel is located in the pore region, which is composed of six transmembrane domains that form the ion permeation pathway. Lipoamido-PEG2-OH binds to the outermost domain of the pore region and blocks ion conduction through this channel. This peptide also functions as a receptor antagonist for both muscarinic acetylcholine receptors and Dopamine D1 receptors. This peptide can be used in research tools or as an antibody or cell biology reagent.
