6-Methyl-12-[4-(4-methylpiperazin-1-yl)phenyl]-4-(1-methylpyrazol-4-yl)-3,5,8,10-tetrazatricyclo[7.4.0.02,7]trideca-1(9),2,4,6,10,12 -hexaene is an inhibitor of ion channels that can be used for research in cell biology and pharmacology. It has been shown to bind to the extracellular domain of a number of receptors including the calcitonin receptor (CTR), which is involved in bone metabolism and tissue calcification; and the insulin receptor (IR), which is involved in glucose homeostasis and fat storage. 6MTTTT binds to these receptors through its macrocyclic ring system and blocks their activation by ligands. This inhibition leads to inhibition of protein interactions and signaling pathways downstream from these receptors.
