<p>(S)-Isotimolol is a ligand for the beta-adrenergic receptor that has been used as a research tool in cell biology and pharmacology. It is an inhibitor of ion channels. (S)-Isotimolol may also be used as a diagnostic aid for determining the presence of peptides or receptors on cells. (S)-Isotimolol is soluble in DMSO, ethanol, and acetone, with a solubility of 1 g/100 mL at 25°C. It is stable to hydrolysis by esterases and other enzymes.<br>It has been shown to activate the beta-adrenergic receptor at micromolar concentrations.
