It has been shown to have anticancer activity and the ability to produce light emission. 4'-Methoxypropiophenone is a phosphotungstic acid (PTA) light-sensitive dye that can be used for detection of acidic compounds. The PTA dye binds to the analyte and produces an intense blue or green light when irradiated with UV or visible light.
