Bromomethyl methyl ether (BME) is a synthetic compound that can be used in pharmaceutical preparations. BME has been shown to have positive effects on blood disorders, such as the treatment of hematopoietic cells and c-c chemokine receptor. It also has anti-metastatic properties in vivo, which may be due to its ability to inhibit tumor growth and induce apoptosis in colorectal cancer cells. BME also has biological properties that are similar to those of fatty acids, which include the ability to activate protein kinase C and the inhibition of phospholipase A2.
