CAS:Controlled ProductPovidone iodine is a broad spectrum antibacterial agent that inhibits the growth of a wide range of bacterial species. Povidone iodine has been shown to be effective against a number of risk groups, including gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, fungi, and mycobacteria. The antimicrobial activity of povidone iodine is attributed to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis by binding to ribosomal RNA. This binding inhibits the enzymatic activity of bacterial enzymes such as dna gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are required for DNA replication. Povidone iodine has been shown to be safe for use in animal experiments, although there are limited studies on its safety in humans.
Povidone iodine has been used in vitro as an experimental model for infectious diseases such as inflammatory lesions or water vapor burns. It has also been used experimentally in animals as an untreated control group for other studies.Formula:(C6H9NO)x•(I2)xPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:Red PowderMolecular weight:364.95Ref: 3D-FP32722
