Description:(R)-(–)-Pirlindole acts as a monoamine oxidase A (MAO-A) inhibitor with an IC50 value of 0.43 µM, exhibiting selectivity for MAO-A compared to MAO-B. When administered at 50 mg/kg, it reduces immobility time in the forced swim test in mice and, at 25 mg/kg, inhibits reserpine-induced palpebral ptosis in mice.
