Description:Hydroxymetronidazole (Mnzoh) is the major hydroxy metabolite formed by 2-hydroxylation of metronidazole, belonging to nitroimidazole-class metabolites with certain antibacterial activity, and its activity against sensitive microorganisms is approximately 30%-65% of that of metronidazole. In human liver microsomes, CYP2A6 is the main enzyme forming Hydroxymetronidazole, with a formation rate approximately 6-fold that of other major related CYP enzymes at a metronidazole concentration of 100 μM, and anti-CYP2A6 antibody can reduce this reaction by more than 99%. Hydroxymetronidazole can serve as a metabolic marker for metronidazole drug metabolism and CYP2A6 activity research, and can be used in research on nitroimidazole drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, and related analytical detection.
