Description:Aftin-5 is an inducer of amyloid beta protein 42 (Aβ42). It functions by modifying the ultrastructure of mitochondria, leading to an upregulation of Aβ42 and a downregulation of Aβ38 through a β-secretase and γ-secretase-dependent mechanism. Aftin-5 exhibits mild cytotoxicity in SH-SY5Y, HT22, N2a, and N2a-AβPP695 cells, with IC50 values of 180, 194, 178, and 150 μM, respectively.
