It functions by inhibiting tubulin polymerization and disrupting microtubule formation, thereby blocking mitosis and arresting the cell cycle at the G2/M phase, which induces apoptosis. Disorazol A1 also inhibits L929 mouse fibroblasts with an IC50 value of 3 pm and causes accumulation of p53 protein in the nucleus. Disorazol A1 holds potential for cancer research.
