Applications sec-Butylbenzene is used as the starting material in the synthesis of 2-(p-sec-Butylphenyl)propionic Acid (B692720); an impurity of Ibuprofen (I140000). sec-Butylbenzene is also used as the sole carbon and energy source for certain Pseudomonas bacteria strains (1,2).
