Applications Galaxolide is a polycyclic musk (PCM) used as a fragrance ingredient in perfumes, soaps, cosmetics and detergents. It is increasingly found in the Great Lakes. An assessment by Green-Screen for Safer Chemicals indicates that it is toxic to aquatic life.This compound is a contaminant of emerging concern (CECs).
