Applications 2-Methyl-2-butene is a trisubstituted olefin that is thought to be one of the prominent volatile compounds in exhaled human breath, possibly indicating the presence of lung cancer. 2-Methyl-2-butene is also used as a substitute for Methylene chloride as a dental softening agent.
