Applications 4-Nitrobenzyl Acetoacetate acts as a reagent in the preparation of panipenem via esterification of nitrobenzyl alcohol followed by substitution, cyclizations and hydrogenation. Panipenem I is a new carbapenem antibiotic for the treatment of inflammation.
