Applications Pentaethylene glycol is part of a group of compounds called polyethylene glycols (PEGs), which are major byproducts of non-ionic surfactants biodegradation. Pentaethylene glycol is a useful synthetic intermediate, and is used as a reagent to synthesize macrocyclic oligoesters through lipase-catalysis.
