Applications Phenylhydrazine hydrochloride is used as a therapeutic agent in the treatment of polycythemia vera, a myeloproliferative disorder that results in elevated levels of marrow erythropoiesis, granylocytopoiesis and megakaryocytopoiesis. Phenylhydrazine hydrochloride is also used to induce anemia in animal test subjects.
